Janie Marie Gaddy DeWeese, 89, of Haywood County went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2026. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lola Medford Gaddy. She owned and operated Janie’s Beauty Shop in Canton from 1955-1973 and was a member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse “Hoot” DeWeese, Jr. in 1999; siblings, James Gaddy, Jacqueline Hyde, and Patsy Reynolds.

She is survived by her brother, David Gaddy and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 30 in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Canton with Rev. Ed Lowder and Pastor Isaac Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00am. Entombment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
