Maggie Valley, Doris Jane Cable, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, peacefully at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation.
A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn Henderson and Effie Jane Evans Setzer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Paul Cable, who passed in 1989; sisters, Bessie Mae Grooms, Gertrude Sheehan, Mildred Nelson, Lucy Ward, Sarah McMahan, Opal Mills, and Ruth Russell; and brother, Verlin Setzer. Jane was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed sewing, tending her garden, and taking wonderful care of her sweet Labrador. Jane attended Victory Baptist Church where she grew and matured in her walk with the Lord.
Jane is survived by three sons, Danny Gene Cable, and his wife, Dianne, of Potters Hill, North Carolina, Tim Michael Cable, of Maggie Valley, and Paul Darrel, and his wife, Lisa, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2022, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Nelson and Reverend Millard Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
The care of Mrs. Cable has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
