James Randy Stevens, 68, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2025, at in the comfort of his home in Haywood County, North Carolina. He was born in Haywood County, North Carolina on April 30, 1956, to Joyce H. Riggs and the late JW Stevens. He was a steadfast father, veteran and engineer.

Randy attended Tuscola, where he had a successful football career. He graduated from East Tennessee State University before serving his country in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm. Following his military service, Randy was an engineer in the automotive supply industry in Waynesville, Ocala, Florida, and Lexington, Tennessee. An adventurer at heart, Randy embraced skydiving and riding his Harley. He enjoyed spending summers on Fontana Lake. Randy liked to tinker with electronics along with the family dog Champ. He was always fixing, building or figuring out how things worked.

Randy is survived by his wife Michele Stevens, children Warren Stevens (Stacey), Savannah DiOrio (Joe), Hunter Stevens, and Marisa Thompson, and grandchildren Malia, Skye, Lily and Mason, along with his mother, Joyce Riggs.

A celebration of Randy’s life will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville, North Carolina. Visitation is set to begin at 10 a.m., followed by the memorial service starting at 11 a.m.

The care of Mr. Stevens has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Waynesville and an online memorial register is available at “Obituaries” at www.wellsfuneralhome.com.
