James Roberts

Asheville

Asheville, James Edward Roberts, 70, of Old County Home Road, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native and life-long resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late W.E. Roberts and Margaret Sluder Roberts.  Mr. Roberts had a 35-year career selling Allen Organs and was a graduate of Mars Hill College.  Mr. Roberts served as organist for many WNC churches, including, First Baptist Church of Black Mountain, Abernethy United Methodist, St. Paul’s United Methodist, St. Lukes Episcopal, St. Eugene Roman Catholic, and First Congregational, all of Asheville; Mt. Pisgah Luther of Hendersonville; Sacred Heart Roman Catholic of Brevard; Our Savior Lutheran Church, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Grace Church in the Mountains, all of Waynesville.

James is survived by his partner Charles Radcliffe, of Asheville and a few special cousins.

A committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 in the Memorial Garden of Grace Church in the Mountains of which he was a member.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Grace Church in the Mountains Memorial Garden, 394 Haywood Street, Waynesville, NC  28786.
