James "Jim" Shearl Harvey

James “Jim” Shearl Harvey, 81, of Canton passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Haywood Regional Hospital following a period of declining health. A native of El Dorado, Kansas, he was the son of the late James and Florence Essex Harvey. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Teague Harvey on December 8, 2013; three sisters, Rhoda Hodges, Patty Ann Lamphier and Mary Anna VanderWaal and two sons, Jeremy Scott Harvey and John Wesley Boley.

Jim was a highly decorated veteran of the US Marine Corp, he served during the Vietnam war and obtained three purple hearts. He retired from Asheville Cardiology Associates and had formerly worked for Biltmore Farms.

He is survived by a daughter, Shearl Harvey of Brunswick, GA; daughter-in-law, Tara Gibson of Knoxville, TN; sister, Pamela Wilshire of Arnold, Missouri; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
