Lake Junaluska, James Edward Fox, 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 31, 2022 at home surrounded by his family and close friends.
Born January 7, 1929, the youngest of four children. Ed was raised in Lexington, Kentucky where he received a master’s degree in Metallurgy from the University of Kentucky. He worked for the G.E. Nuclear Propulsion Department in Cincinnati, Ohio for 13 years and the Department of Energy in Rockville, Maryland (originally called the Atomic Energy Commission) for 27 years. In 1993 he retired and moved to Lake Junaluska, North Carolina where he was an active volunteer with The Junaluskans Associates and Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church. A personal blessing, was the opportunity to serve with his wife, JoAnn, as leaders in the Marriage Enrichment program of The United Methodist Church for 25 years in numerous states. Ed served as President of the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Ed married JoAnn Woodruff in 1952, they had a lifelong commitment of love and were married for 70 years. The had two children, Karen Dale Fox and Daryl Arthur Fox, both live in Maggie Valley, North Carolina.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.
As Ed would say "I suspect some of you are saying Enough already!!!!. So that’s enough!
The care of Mr. Fox has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
