James Forney

Trinity, Alabama, James Edward Forney, age 70, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Georgia Haley Forney and the late James Forney. James proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era in the United States Army. He retired from International Papers after 28 years and was a member of Abundant Life Church where he served as a deacon. James enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, his family and his church. He loved to make people laugh; he had an amazing sense of humor.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 19 years, Berda "Diane" Forney; two daughters, Stephanie Shorter (Lonnie), and Tasha McClarrin; step daughter, Taja Payne; son, James Santana Forney (Tina); step-son, Tobias Payne (Carmen); sister, Patricia Bryson (Dennis); two brothers, Donald L. Forney and Alvin D. Forney (Lin); fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A home going celebration will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Walter Bryson and Pastor Ronnie Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
