James Monroe Blount was born to the late Herbert Blount and Lavinia Henson on August 11, 1941, in Washington, D. C. He entered into his eternal rest on the morning of September 11, 2021.
Mr. Blount proudly served in the US Army and had worked for the Government Printing Office in Washington, D. C. for 30 years. He later retired to live out the rest of his days traveling and gathering with family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Geraldine Blount; his children, Vivia Thomas (Ronald), Stephanie Blount (Anthony), Lavinia Blount-Parish (Eric), Tara Blount-Boakye (Shawn), Roderick Tolbert (Vickie White), Wanda Welch (Alexander) and Cheryl Blount-Yett (Justin); his sisters, Penelope Powell, Patricia Williams (Mike), Shirley Ann Blount, Diane Henson, Lynda Carter, Renee Roberts, Jan Blount, Anita Johnson, Jocelyn Blount; his brothers, Ronald Blount, Anthony Blount and Thomas Henson, as well as, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Wells Chapel of Faith, 1 Chapel of Faith Drive, Candler, NC. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Face mask be worn by all in attendance.
The family of the late James Monroe Blount wish to thank all of their many friends for their many expressions of comfort and prayer during our bereavement. We are forever grateful and pray that God’s blessings will be with you.
The care of Mr. Blount has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
