Jacolin Eichelberger

Canton – Jacolin Potts Eichelberger, EdD, 78, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019.

Jacolin was born in Wooster, Ohio; grew up in Port Charlotte, FL; and lived in Tampa, FL for a number of years before moving to western North Carolina.  She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Luther “Doc” and Ada Mary Jackson Potts and her beloved husband, John Dennis Eichelberger III, who passed away in 2015.

She is survived by two daughters, Terri Rainier (Aloyah) of Canton and Mary Ann Meagher (Michael “Mick”) of Cary; a brother, Jon E. Potts (Prudi) of Port Charlotte, FL; three grandchildren, Joshua Reinert, Colin Meagher, and Quinton Meagher; brothers-in-law, Gordon “Rusty” Eichelberger (Nelda) and M.J. “Ike” Eichelberger (Natalie); and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jackie was an inspiration! She worked hard and played often too. She set her sights on her dreams and turned them into reality one by one. She never sat still and was a “Jackie” of all trades – from her doctorate in education, to CFP and Realtor, to cake decorating, painting, sewing, family finances, travel coordinator, party planner, and even building a house – there was nothing she couldn’t do.  An optimist by heart, she exemplified the “power of positive thinking” and embraced all that life had to offer.  She not only strived to be her personal best, but always saw the potential in others and encouraged them to be their best too. She truly touched the lives of everyone she met!  While Alzheimer’s robbed her of precious memories, she did not lose the affect she had on everyone around her to be a beacon of love.  Her blue eyes, beautiful smile, and big heart will be remembered forever.  It brings comfort to know she is in heaven dancing with Dennis again, and now they will always be together forever.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Cruso United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
