Jackie "Jack" Darrell Conard

Jackie “Jack” Conard, 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at SilverBluff Nursing Home in Haywood County, North Carolina. He was born in Haywood County, North Carolina on November 11, 1937, to the late Millard Conard and Bertie Jo Pressley. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Barbara Henson Conard; daughter, Beth Ann Conard, brothers, Bruce Conard, Sam Conard, Johnny Conard and sister Diane Conard Best Nichols.

Jack was a Military Veteran and longtime employee with Champion Papers/ Blue Ridge Papers of 42 years on 19 and 22 machines. He worked hard during the summers raising tomatoes, gardens and working in the hayfields. He had a passion for kids and football. Jack was the captain of the 1956 Canton High School State Championship Team. He went on to play for Western Carolina University, then went on to coach football for Bethel Midget Youth Organization for 22 years, winning many championships and touching so many life's. After retiring from work and football he spent many days, years and miles following Brandon through Bethel and Pisgah basketball, football, track and baseball.

Jack is survived by his children Sherri Conard Luther (Johnny), Michael Conard (Linda), David Conard and Lora Conard Ponder (Robin); grandchildren, Brandon Luther (Nikki) and John Brody Luther; greatgrandchildren, Neriah and Torin; brother, Forrest “Cooter” Conard and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 1918 Murray Rd, Canton, NC 28716 on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bethel Youth Organization or Pisgah High School Athletics or Boosters Club.
