Jack Freeman

Waynesville-Jack Way Freeman, age 73, of J & J Farm Road, died Friday, April 8, 2005 in Tampa, Florida. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Martha Quilliams Freeman. He was also preceded in death by a son, Morris Alan Freeman and a sister, Hilda Jennings. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a foreman at Dayco, a building contractor, and the owner of Haywood Furniture Manufacturing. He enjoyed gardening and loved woodworking. He was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gladys Pruett Freeman; a daughter, Jackie Jenkins of Canton; two sons, Dennis Freeman and his wife, Darlene, of Hudson, FL and Tom Freeman and his wife, Lynn, of Waynesville; a sister, Thomasine Dillard of Sylva; three brothers, Bill and Jim Freeman, both of Waynesville and Johnny Freeman of Acton, CA; four grandchildren, Tiffany Rogers and her husband, Rodney, Josh Freeman and his wife, Erin, and John Eric, and Jessie Freeman; and one great grandson, Taylor Fortney. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with Reverend Eddie Deitz and Reverend Carl Presnell officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Military services will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service and at other times, the family will be at the home of Tom and Lynn, J & J Farm Road. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis, Tom, Josh, Jessie, and John Eric Freeman and Rodney Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Coy Pruett and Taylor Fortney.
