J. Smith

January 17, 1913 — February 3, 2003

Clyde-James Lewis Smith-90 died Monday February 3, 2003 at his residence.

He was a son of the late Robert and Fannie Sanders Smith and was the husband of the late Ruby Reed Smith who died in 1999. He was also preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Smith. He retired from Champion International with 46 years of service and was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Lois S. Morgan of Asheville, one sister, Pauline S. Scroggs of Asheville and one brother, Leonard C. Smith of Clyde and Port Charlotte, FL.

Funeral services will be at 11:00a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverends Jerry Harwell, James Parham and W. O. Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Scroggs, L. C. Smith, Jr., Richard Hannah, Claude Burrell,Milton Brown and Joe Hyatt.

Memorials may be made to the Bon-A-Venture Cemetery Maintenance Fund, 32 Rhoda Street, Canton, NC 28716 or to Clyde First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 356, Clyde, NC 28721.
