Iva Lee Davis, 92, passed away on Friday, September 15, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. Born on April 20, 1931, to Lawrence Zemery Messer and Nova Parkins Messer, Iva Lee had a profound impact on those around her throughout her life. She will be remembered for her warm and caring nature.

Iva Lee dedicated approximately 18 years of her life to the Haywood County Tax Assessor office, where she displayed diligence and commitment in serving the community.

 
Outside of work, Iva Lee found solace in her flower garden, where she would spend countless hours tending to her plants and admiring the birds that flocked to visit. She had a wealth of knowledge about gardening and was always eager to share her wisdom with anyone in need. Iva Lee's green thumb brought joy to those who witnessed the beauty she nurtured.

 

Above all else, Iva Lee was known for being a wonderful mother to Lisa Davis and Eddie Davis. Affectionately known as "Momoo," she exuded love and cared deeply for her children. Her giving and nurturing nature made everyone around her feel special. The bond between Iva Lee and her children was unbreakable, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

In addition to her role as a devoted mother, Iva Lee was an avid supporter of the Salvation Army, volunteering her time there. Her dedication to helping others exemplified the compassion that radiated from within her. Iva Lee's selflessness touched the lives of countless individuals in need.

Iva Lee was predeceased by her husband, H. Edward Davis, in 2013, and a daughter, Joyce Davis, in 1971.  She was also predeceased by her brother Boyd Messer and sister Jewel Messer Justice. She is survived by her loving daughter Lisa Davis and son Eddie Davis.

Iva Lee also leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her two grandchildren, Matthew Richardson and his wife Andria, as well as Madison Banks. Her two great-grandchildren, Iva Lee Nance Richardson and Davis Ford Richardson, will grow up with memories of their extraordinary great-grandmother who showered them with love.

 

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:oo p.m on Monday, September 18, 2023 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with The Reverend Jay Jones officiating.  Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.  Eddie Davis, Matt Richardson, Neil Rogers, Kerry Carreno, David Grasty, and Bobby Grasty, will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Silver Bluff Village for their compassionate care.
