Waynesville, Hugh Love Allison, Jr., 77, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Memorial Mission Hospital.
Hugh was a native and life-long resident of Haywood County. He was the son of the late Hugh Love Allison, Sr. and the late Edna Jones Allison. Hugh worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 42 years and also served many years as the county supervisor. He enjoyed walking at Lake Junaluska, reading, tinkering with old vehicles, working outside, watching classic television and western movies, listening to bluegrass music and spending time with his friends and family.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine; his daughter Melissa Allison-Brooks (John); and two grandsons, Ryan and Lawson of Waynesville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2019 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. prior to services.
