Hubert Samuel Smiley, Jr.

Hubert Samuel Smiley, Jr., 69, of Asheville passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Tender Loving Care Homes. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son Hubert Samuel Smiley, Sr. and Etta Elizabeth Collins Smiley.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Gaddy and brothers, Dewayne Smiley, Winston Smiley and Edward Smiley.

Hubert is survived by nieces, Gwendolyn Ray and Kim Smiley; nephews, Brett Smiley and Scott Gaddy; many great and great-great nieces and nephews and one great great-great grandnephew.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 in Wells Chapel of Faith. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m at Wells Chapel of Faith.

The care of Mr. Smiley has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
