Howard Kline

Canton, Howard Keith Kline, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at  Haywood House.

Howard was born in Arizona to the late Frederick and Ann Wolkowski Kline.

He was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and proudly served as a Surface Warfare Naval Officer in the United States Navy. He retired as Commodore of the 7th Fleet in Naples, Italy, after 30 years of service.  In retirement he wrote several grants for Haywood Community College and served as a recruiter for the United States Naval Academy. He enjoyed reading, golf, swimming, computers and Navy football.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waynesville and served as Governor for Kiwanis from 2007 – 2008 for both North Carolina and South Carolina.  Howard was very proud to give back to the community.

Howard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Wisthoff Kline; two sons, Fred Kline, and Keith Kline and his wife Brianna Kaake; and two grandchildren, Eli and Wilder.
