Horace Clontz

Horace Asberry Clontz, age 73, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Henry and Hattie Haney Clontz. He was owner and operator of H & C Post Shop. Horace enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mary Greene Clontz; five daughters, Joyce Hucks of Lexington; Rebecca Larson of Pennsylvania, Wanda Dellinger of Conover, Christine Grooms of Maiden, and Donna Ratliff of Conover; two sons, Junior Clontz of Maiden and Ray Pace of Orlando, Florida; a sister, Ruby Revis of Conover; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Gywn Cemetery with the Reverend Steve Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
