Helen Messer

Helen E. Messer, 82, of Candler went to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at her residence. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Bud Marshall Evans and June Cordelia Austin Evans. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Carroll Eugene Messer, Sr. on February 14, 2012, and a brother, Bud Evans in February 2022.

Helen was employed with Buncombe County Schools for twenty years and was a member of Maple Ridge Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Trull and her husband, Keith of Candler; two sons, Carroll Eugene Messer, Jr. of Candler and Gerald Eugene Messer and his wife, Susie of Weaverville; sister-in-law, Wanda Evans of Woodfin; six grandchildren, Sabrina, Gene, Anthony, Wendy, Jennifer and Heather; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Stephen Fox and Reverend Jackie West will officiate.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.

The care of Mrs. Messer has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes Canton.
