Hendersonville-Helen Elizabeth McCracken, age 65, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital Campus from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was a native of Haywood County and had been a resident of Buncombe and Hendersonville counties most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Jack and Clara Rogers McCracken. She was employed with Holiday Inn Airport for the past 16 years and was a former member of State Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. Helen was a member of Ruff Creek Cloggers Square Dancing Team in Haywood County. She is survived by two daughters, Tina M. Angel and Felicia C. Angel, both of Asheville, three sisters, Joan Garland and Patricia Axelrod, both of Haywood County and Jackie Liner of Hendersonville, three brothers, Donald P. McCracken and Neal R. McCracken, both of Haywood County, Larry McCracken of Maiden, NC, 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Cogdill, Brandie, Adriene and Mikayla Angel, Tyler Youngblood and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Larry McCracken officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her brother, Neal McCracken, 108 Newfound Street, Canton, NC 28716.
