Helen Coleman

Canton - Helen Hope Holcombe Coleman, 90, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Madison County, she was the youngest child of Joe and Lydia Banks Holcombe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harris Coleman, who passed away on June 10, 1998; 12 older brothers and sisters including her twin, Howard Holcombe. The family moved to the Cruso Community of Haywood County in 1931 where she attended Cruso Elementary School and graduated from Bethel High School in 1945. Helen married Charles Harris Coleman on September 25, 1948. Along with Charles, she worked for many years for Western Electric Company throughout the Southeast. Helen was active in the PTA and was a Brownie Scout leader in Decatur, Georgia. After retiring to her parents' farm in 1981, she took up the hobby of stained glass.

She is survived by a daughter, Kelly Ruth Coleman of Boulder, Colorado; a son-in-law, Larry Fabiny of Boulder, Colorado; one grandson, Tristan Coleman Fabiny of Boulder, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Victoria Holcombe of Dillsboro; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Alfred "Skip" Jordan officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
