Helen Brackett

Helen Ledford Brackett, 90, formerly of the Bethel Community passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at her residence in Candler.  A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late S. C. “Cat” and French Singleton Ledford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Johnny Brackett in 1984 and her brothers, Thomas, Roy, Troy and Dillard Ledford.

Helen retired from Haywood County School Systems in 1998 after 14 years of service with Bethel County School Cafeterias and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Wilson and her husband, Glenn of Candler, Brenda Justice and her husband, Roger of Bethel and Sharon Wilkie and her husband, Jeff of Hooper’s Creek; grandchildren, Misty Deyo (Eddie), Christy Frisbee (Mark), John Wilson (Tammy), Tech Sgt. Sean Wilkie, Jenna Wilkie and Caleb Justice; great-grandchildren, Evan Deyo, Claire Deyo, Benjamin Frisbee and William Frisbee; brothers, Charles Ledford and his wife, Donna of Old Fort and Carl Ledford and his wife, Becky of Bethel and sister, Mary Ruth Pressley and her husband, Carroll of Bethel.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Bethel Community Cemetery with Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Brandon Jochum, Amanda Banks, Sandra Epley, Mazie Hargrove, Betty Jo Ruff and Betty Watkins as well as Four Seasons Hospice for the wonderful care received for our mother.
