Hattie Kirkpatrick

Fines Creek, NC, Hattie "Marie" Suttles Kirkpatrick, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Pisgah Manor.

Raised in Madison County, Marie was one of four daughters born to Winfield Suttles and Kathern Ledford Suttles.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Wade Kirkpatrick, who passed away on February 22; their dear son, Gregory Kirkpatrick; and sister, Evelyn Sutton.

Marie was quick to volunteer when needed and made a difference in her community.  She was one of the first members of the Fines Creek Volunteer Fire Department and also served as a first responder for the Fire Department.  This proud member of Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Michael Kirkpatrick and Steven Kirkpatrick and his wife, Nita; sisters, Mary Ann Finney and Georgia Allen; eight grandchildren, Harlee, Makina, Bayli, Ethan, Samantha, Jessica, Boyd and Ava; three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Joseph, and Olivia; and her beloved dog, Jethro.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home.  A private burial will be held at a later date for Wade and Marie at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1128 Max Patch Road, Clyde, NC 28721.

The care of Mrs. Kirkpatrick has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
