Harold "Glenn" Gudger, 88, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, unwavering love, and a legacy that will continue through the family he adored. Born on January 19, 1938, in Asheville, North Carolina, Glenn lived a life defined by hard work, laughter, adventure, and devotion to those he loved most.

On November 27, 1957, Glenn married the love of his life, Clara "Ruth" Arrowood. Together they shared 68 beautiful years of marriage, a remarkable journey built on faith, friendship, perseverance, and unconditional love. Through every season of life, they stood side by side, creating a home where family always came first.

Glenn was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Curtis Joel Gudger, who passed away on March 9, 2008.

Those left to treasure his memory include his devoted wife, Ruth Gudger; his daughter, Diane Campbell of Candler; eight grandchildren: Cody Campbell (Brandy), Courtney Mazankowski (Aaron), Shannon Bell, Jennifer Jones (Chris), Ryan Gudger (Kristal), Amber Cameron (Brian), Caleb Gudger (Laura), and Heather Vaughn (Alex); as well as eighteen great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy and pride.

Many throughout the Asheville area knew Glenn from his years of employment with Square D and Cutler-Hammer before he courageously pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by starting his own business. Whatever work he did, he earned the respect of others through his honesty, determination, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

While Glenn worked hard, his greatest accomplishments were found at home with his family. He treasured every opportunity to make memories together- whether spending weekends at the lake, camping beneath the stars, skiing, gathering with extended family, or riding motorcycles through the winding mountain roads of North Carolina and Georgia. Every trip became an adventure, and every adventure became another story he would joyfully tell.

In later years, Glenn and Ruth discovered a shared hobby that brought them even closer together. Fascinated by rocks and minerals, Glenn taught himself the art of lapidary, carefully cutting and polishing stones with remarkable patience and skill, while Ruth transformed his creations into beautiful wire-wrapped jewelry. Together they spent many happy years traveling to arts and crafts shows, sharing their talents and meeting countless new friends along the way.

Glenn never met a stranger. His warm smile, quick wit, and gift for conversation made everyone feel welcome. Whether telling stories, sharing a joke, or talking about almost any subject imaginable, he had a way of making people feel like old friends. Among the memories he held most dear was singing in the quartet at Deaverview Baptist Church, where he joyfully used his voice to praise the Lord alongside others who shared his faith.

A graveside service to celebrate and honor the life of Harold "Glenn" Gudger will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler, North Carolina. Pastor Mike Hicks will officiate.

As family and friends gather to remember Glenn, they will celebrate a life well lived by a man who loved deeply, laughed often, worked faithfully, and leaves behind a family forever blessed to have been loved by him.
