Leicester - Haynes Mont Rogers, Jr., 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Aston Park Health Care Center in Asheville.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Haynes Mont and Willie Brookshire Rogers. H.M. was a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Champion International with 34 years of service in 1988 and was a "Champion Old Timers". H.M. was a lifelong member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and served as a deacon for 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Matilda "Tilda" Hardin Rogers; one son and his wife, Haynes Mont "Monty" Rogers, III and Beth of Leicester; two grandchildren and their spouses, Andrew and Cassie Rogers and Haley and Chris Seager; and two great-grandchildren, Genna Rogers and Blakely Seager.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Leicester with the Reverend Bobby Smith and Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
