Gertrude Eunice Messer Fullbright, 99, of Clyde, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lona Henson Messer. She was a devoted member of Antioch Baptist Church and served as a Senior Companion Volunteer for 10 years where she served many and was an inspiration to others; displaying her faith through action. For 30 years she was employed by Haywood Regional Hospital as a Nursing Assistant. 

Throughout her life she faced many challenges, but her unwavering faith always showed. She loved her family and lived “Loving God and Each Other” every day.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd D. Fullbright; children, Stanley Fullbright, Diane (David) Baker, and Phoebe (Bruce) Burleson; 5 brothers and 5 sisters.

She is survived by her son, John Fullbright; granddaughters, Krista (Rev. Nicholas) King and Amy (Ben) Garner; great grandchildren, Madeline King, Josie (Zane) Edwards, Jeb Garner, and Lydia King; and brother, Ralph Buddy Messer as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, April 4th at Antioch Baptist Church, Waynesville with Rev. Nicholas King officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Donna Green 166 Weaver Russell Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
