Waynesville, Georgia Smith Crain, age 78, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at John F. Keever Solace Center.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late George Vaughn and Maggie Messer Smith.  Georgia worked with Ingles for 5 years in the deli department and was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church.  Georgia was the pillar for her family.  Her selfless nature and determined spirit enriched the lives of all her friends and family.  One of her greatest blessings was her cooking.  She was adamant no one left hungry.

Georgia is survived by a daughter, Renee Shelton, of Waynesville; two sons, Victor Haynes, of Sylva and Michael Haynes, of Waynesville; a brother Tommy Smith, and his wife, Pat, of Indiana; six grandchildren, Jason Smith, Sherry Alvarez, Dylan, Lanae, Garrett and Austin Haynes; five great-grandchildren; and several beloved nieces and nephews.  The family would also like to acknowledge Georgia’s best friend forever, Laura Blevins.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
