"Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather"
Canton, George Robert Warren, 79, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at his residence.
A native of Haywood County he was the son of the late James Ennis and Maude Trull Warren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Dwight Warren; grandson, Tyler Warren; brothers, Grady, James "JR", and Clyde Warren. George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army serving during the Korea Conflict as a military policeman. He was stationed and guarded the White House during the Eisenhower Administration. George retired from Champion Paper with 40 years of service as a finisher on 11 and 12 machines. He was a member of Burnette Siding Missionary Baptist Church. George loved to fish, camp and was an avid wrestling fan.
George is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Stepp Warren; daughter, Elaine Warren "Sis", of Canton; sons, Doug "Bo" Warren and Gary "Wally" Warren, both of Canton; one grandson and six granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Brooks, Luke Carver, David Cable, Sam Reece, Barry Treadway and Terry Inman.
