George Kenneth Mease

George Kenneth Mease, 89, a dedicated and beloved member of the community, passed away on April 26, 2024, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. He was born on May 22, 1934, in Haywood County, to the late Grover and Jessie Williams Mease.

Kenneth led a remarkable life filled with commitment and service. He retired from Champion International in 1995 after serving the company for 40 years. His strong faith led him to become an active member of High Street Baptist Church, where he not only served as a deacon but also held various other positions within the church community.

In his journey of life, Kenneth was surrounded by family and friends who meant the world to him. He was preceded in death by his son, George Allen Mease, as well as his four brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife, Chrysta Banks Mease of Canton, and his daughter, Mary Beth Tyson of Gastonia, NC; four grandchildren; and three great-granchildren.    Kenneth’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Chris Willett officiating.  Entombment will follow at The Horizon Mausoleum at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
