George Hunter

October 25, 1928 — April 10, 2010

Waynesville, George Allen Hunter, age, 81 of Waynesville, born and raised in the White Oak community, died on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Brian Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Albert Lee and Frances Evans Hunter and also preceded in death by two brothers. He was a retired production worker for Lea Industries with 44 years service. George was a kind and simple man; very humble in his ways and special to many. He is survived by a son, Donnie Hunter; a daughter, Debra Hunter Littrell and her husband, Johnny; two sisters, Louise Russell and Ruth Finger all of Waynesville; one grandson, Tyler McClure; a special niece, Elva Woody; several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends. A private graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Tyler McClure, Wayne Littrell, Calvin Russell, JR Chmielewski, Claude Trantham, Levi Duffield, and Albert Russell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brian Center Activities Fund, 516 Wall Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
