Geneva Summey

Canton - Geneva Brown Summey, 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Brian Center of Weaverville.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Pearl and Nora Mae Jones Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Everett Summey, who died in 2006 and a son, Ernest "Boney" Summey; a brother, Grady Brown; and four sisters, Josephine Worley, Irene Gibson, Hilda Fish and Mary Crawford. Geneva worked at Canton Laundry for many years and was a member of the Church of God in Phillipsville.

She is survived by two daughters, Freida McCall of Springfield, South Carolina and Debbie Summey of Canton; one son, Clayton T. Brown and wife, Pennie; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Summey, all of Canton; two sisters, Betty Williams of Canton and Lee Attaway of Cowpens, South Carolina; two brothers, Pastor Calvin Brown of Michigan and Harley Brown of Canton; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor James Johnson and her brother, Pastor Calvin Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
