Geneva Shade

Geneva Elizabeth Shade, 87, of Arden went to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 19, 2021, at her residence. A native of Arden, NC, she was daughter of the late William and Hazel Hill Collington.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Shade; brothers, Donald Eugene Collington and William “Blue” Collington.

Geneva was employed with the Ball Corporation for 28 1/2 years.  She loved to cook, plant flowers, write poetry and travel.  She loved her family and taking care of the children.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheba Strickland of Arden and Peggy Young of Martinsville, VA; son, Cecil Shade of Arden; nine grandchildren, Maryah, Carissa, Karice, Cherish, Adrian, Casey, Tai, Demetrius and Nicholas and thirteen great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, in the Wells Chapel of Faith, 1 Chapel of Faith Drive, Candler with the Reverends Donald McDaniel, Bobby Hill, Jr., David Suber and Odell Suber, Sr.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.

The family would like to give special thanks to Four Season’s Hospice for their care, especially Katherine and Lila.

The care of Mrs. Shade has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
