Geneva Ledford

December 3, 1913 — July 30, 2004

Waynesville-Geneva Trantham Ledford, age 90, formerly of Hyatt Creek, died Friday, July 30, 2004 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen Russell Trantham. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ledford, who died in 1978; one daughter, Dorothy Green, three sons, Harold, Doyle, and Kenneth "Buster" Ledford, two sisters, seven brothers, and six grandchildren. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie R. Rich and her husband, Leroy of Waynesville, and Betty Justice and her husband, Thomas of Jonathan Creek; one son, James Ledford of Jonathan Creek; and one brother, Homer Trantham of Fines Creek; 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. The Reverend G. W. Jameson and Reverend Claude Conard will officiate. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Cemetery in the Fines Creek Community. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2004, at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of the daughter, Bobbie Rich, 700 Old Balsam Road, Waynesville. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
