Gene Parrish

Harold Gene Parrish, 91 passed away December 5, 2023.  He was born an only child to the late Howard & Ruby Parrish in Hartford, Alabama.

 

He graduated from Ocala High School in Florida.  Following graduation, he served in the US Army in Germany as a radio operator.  After his discharge, he attended the University of Florida, majoring in business.  His career involved real estate sales, appraisals for the State of Florida, and real estate management for his personal properties.

 

His love of travel took him around the world to all the continents except Antarctica. After moving to Waynesville in 2001, he enjoyed hiking and exploring the United States especially the mountains of North Carolina.  He was proud that he was able to visit all 50 states with his wife Nancy.

 

He was a kind and gentle man who loved his family & kitties.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years Nancy Parrish, only child David (Nancy) of Burnsville, grandson William (Rebecca), granddaughter Katie, and his very special cousins Judy, Donna, & Diane.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with Pastor Adam Tarver officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your favorite charity in Gene’s honor.
