Gene Messer

Waynesville, Gene Wilson Messer, 84, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Brownlow and Rethea Sutton Messer.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Roslyn Hunter.  Gene proudly served for 20 years in the United States Air Force as a Master Sargent.  He was a finance manager with Ford Motor Company for 20 years and worked in New Mexico and Alaska at multiple dealerships.  Gene was of the Baptist faith and an avid reader.  He also enjoyed fly fishing at home and out West in the summertime.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marsha Ragsdale Messer.

The care of Mr. Messer has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
