Freda Taylor Wells, 67, of Candler, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on June 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Buncombe County, Freda was born on September 6, 1958, to the late Frank E. Taylor and Rosa Parton Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Christopher Taylor.
Freda devoted her career to caring for others, working for many years as a laboratory technician in the medical field. She was a faithful longtime member of Enka Baptist Church, where she served others through her time, talents, and generous spirit. Freda’s unwavering faith and servant’s heart were evident in all she did, and she was always ready to offer a helping hand, supportive words, or thoughtful guidance.
She enjoyed crafting, creating beautiful floral arrangements, cooking for loved ones, and spending time at the beach. Freda had a gift for making others feel cherished. She loved her niece and nephews as though they were her own children and was a devoted daughter who lovingly cared for her parents during their later years. Her compassion, generosity, and kind nature left a lasting impact on everyone lucky enough to know her.
Left to cherish Freda’s memory is her loving husband of 42 years, David Lynn Wells; brothers, Calvin Taylor (Sheila) and Doug Taylor; nieces, Courtney Taylor and Brianne Brim; nephew, Mitchell Taylor and Andrew Wells; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Enka Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Chris Reece officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Four Seasons Hospice and AdventHealth Cancer Care for the compassionate care and support they provided to Freda.
The care of Mrs. Wells has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
