Frank Yerkes

Waynesville-Frank Harlan Yerkes, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Haywood Lodge. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he resided in Palm Harbor, Florida and had moved to Haywood County in 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Madeline Anna Yerkes who died in 2004. During his life he worked as a police officer and a restaurant manager, most notably working for Col. Harland Sanders. In his later years he owned a private security firm in Clearwater, FL. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge of Louisville, KY and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dunedin, FL. In retirement, Harlan was a dedicated volunteer. He was an officer of the Imperial Cove Community Association, Ostomy Support Group, and Sutton Place Condominium Association. He was a long time volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Religious Community Services. He enjoyed square dancing and RV traveling. He is survived by four daughters, Sabra Hampton and her husband, Earl, Rita Yerkes and her partner, Wilma Miranda, all of Illinois, Lisa Dragos and her husband, Gheta, of Romania, and Cheryl Mulloy Villemagne and her husband, Dick, of Waynesville; two sons, Harley Yerkes of Ohio and Ken Malmstrom and his wife, Mary, of Waynesville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
