Frances Louise Reece Pressley, age 88, of Canton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, at the Solace Center in Asheville, N.C. with her loving family by her side. Born on August 2, 1937, in Haywood County, Louise was the daughter of the late William Vincent Reece and Retta Lee Davis Bolden Reece. She was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and spent many years devoted to her family, faith, and community.
Louise was employed with American Enka/BASF for 35 years before retiring. After retiring, Louise devoted herself to what she often called her dream job, caring for her grandchildren. A role that brought her immense joy and purpose. She was a lifelong member of Cruso United Methodist Church, where her faith guided her throughout her life.
In her quieter moments, Louise found joy in writing poetry, gardening, flowers, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and canning. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and had a fondness for simple pleasures, including enjoying baking her famous “Cold Oven Poundcake”.
Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Franklin “Frank” Pressley, who passed away in 2024; her brothers, Roy Reece, Robert Reece, and Billy Reece; her sister, Barbara Guilford; and her stepson, Dee Pressley.
Louise is survived by her son Ricky Pressley (Lucy), daughter Diane Rowland (Bryan) and stepdaughter, Linda Barham (Gary). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Zack Rowland (Makayla), and Heath Rowland (Izzy); her great-grandchildren, Addy, Reid, and Hudson Rowland; along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
A special note of gratitude is extended to the caring staff of the Solace Center for the love and compassion shown to Louise and her family during her final days.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Wells Funeral Home of Canton, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Jack Ward. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Louises’ memory to Solace Center CarePartners, 21 Belvedere Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
