Frances McAninch Lester

Frances Mae McAninch Lester, a beloved homemaker and esteemed member of Canton Wesleyan Church, has passed away at the age of 99. Mrs. Lester, whose life began in the serene lands of Haywood County, North Carolina on August 13, 1924, transitioned to eternal peace on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Mission Hospital in Buncombe County, North Carolina.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Lester's dedication to her family and faith shone brightly. She found joy in her profound role as a homemaker and shared her unwavering devotion within the walls of Canton Wesleyan Church.

Mrs. Lester leaves behind an enduring legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Elic and Mae Harkins McAninch, as well as her husband, James Edward Lester, who passed away in 2002. Additionally, she was preceded in death by four siblings.

In the hearts of those who mourn her loss but celebrate her life, Mrs. Lester is survived by her daughter, Nancy Fulcher (Gerald) of Canton; her sons: James "Jimmy" Lester (Linda) of Dallas, GA, Dean Lester of Canton, Charlie Lester (Carolyn) of Canton, and Donald Lester of Canton. Moreover, she leaves behind eight grandchildren who will always hold her dear memory close. Her fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters will continue to carry forward Mrs. Lester's love and kindness through generations.

A Funeral Service will be held to commemorate the life of Mrs. Lester at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.   The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.  

In this time of loss, may we remember Mrs. Frances Lester for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched during her remarkable journey on earth.
