Frances "Loraine" Holland Jones

Frances "Loraine" Jones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 9, 2023, at The Lodge at Mills River Health & Rehabilitation. She was born on February 21, 1932, in Macon County, North Carolina. Loraine will be remembered for her warm personality, unwavering faith, and her love for her family and friends.

Loraine dedicated many years of her life to the Buncombe County School Nutrition Program. She found joy in being part of the school community and serving meals to countless children. Her commitment to providing nourishment went beyond the physical; she treasured the connections she made with students and staff alike.

A devout Christian, Loraine was a faithful member of Good News Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. She lived out her faith daily and found solace in reading her Bible. Loraine's spirituality was evident in the way she treated others with kindness and compassion. Her sweet demeanor and pleasant smile lit up every room she entered.

Family was the center of Loraine 's world.  She was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert N. Jones, Jr., who passed away in 1980, as well as their daughter Patricia Gail O'Kelley and granddaughter Katie O'Kelley.

Loraine is survived by her loving children, Michael Jones (Charlotte) of Piedmont SC, Greg Jones (Kim) of Leicester NC, and Gina Pressley (Robert) of Asheville, NC.  Loraine will forever be remembered by her nine grandchildren: Sean O'Kelley, Elisabeth Self, Jennifer Jones, Coleman Pressley, Matthew Jones, Shelby Pope, Dylan Jones, Austin Jones, and Allie Jones. In addition to her grandchildren she leaves behind thirteen great-grandchildren who were a source of joy and laughter in her life.

Beyond her immediate family members, Loraine held dear several special friends - Garrnetta Woodard , Sandra Rice, and Karla. Their companionship enriched her life in immeasurable ways, providing love and support.

Loraine's love for literature was a defining aspect of her life. She adored reading her Bible, indulging in Danielle Steele novels, and finding solace in watching Hallmark movies. 

To honor Loraine's life and offer comfort to those who mourn her passing, visitation services will be held on August, 14, 2023, at Good News Baptist Church in Candler, North Carolina. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  We invite all friends and family to gather together to celebrate the remarkable life of Loraine.

Loraine Jones left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kind heart, unwavering faith, and infectious smile brought joy to those around her. As we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman, let us also reflect on the beautiful memories she leaves behind. May we find solace in knowing that Loraine is now reunited with her loved ones who went before her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Good News Missions, 1953 Smokey Park Highway, Candler, NC  28715 in honor of Loraine's lifelong commitment to her faith community.

Loraine's legacy will live on through the memories and stories shared by those whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she made a profound impact on the world around her.
