Waynesville, Foy Beasley, 92, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Smoky Mountain Nursing and Rehab.
A native of Madison County, he was a son of the late Cauley and Myrtle Suttles Beasley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Beasley, who died in 2015; and three sisters. Foy proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Haywood County School System after many years of service. Foy was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing; his pastime was raising honeybees and tending his garden or farming the land. Foy was also a big supporter of all United States Veterans.
Foy is survived by a daughter, Betty Vettor and her husband Gianfranco, of Walkertown, NC; three sons, Ronald Beasley of Walnut Cove, NC, Roger Beasley and his wife Gail, of Salisbury, NC, and Stanley Beasley, of Walkertown, NC; two step-daughters Kathy Sutton, of Mineral Bluff, GA, Debbie Biddy and her husband Daniel, of Eatonton, NC; one step-son, Mike Haynes, of Clyde; and one sister Wilda Leigh Moore, of Fines Creek; and six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Keenerville Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday May 25 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to have memorials made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 331, Canton, NC 28716.
