Floyd "Fudd" Thomas Rogers

Waynesville, Floyd Thomas Rogers, 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Mission Hospital.

 

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late T. Hugh and Sarah Woody Rogers.  Floyd was a founding member of Corner Stone Fellowship, and a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church, a member of Haywood County School Board, and past President of Waynesville Rotary Club.  He received his master’s degree from Western Carolina University and his bachelor's degree from Clemson University. At Clemson University, he was a Captain on the Clemson Football team and one of the first two players ever to touch Howard’s Rock before a football game. He was the owner of Haywood Insurance Company since 1981.  Floyd was an avid Clemson fan, enjoyed traveling, cooking, and loved being an outdoorsman.

 

Floyd is survived by his wife, Suzi Rogers, daughter Kimber Nelson (Bryce) children Jacob and Brysen Nelson; son Tommy Rogers (Kelley) children Hunter, Maggie, and Sarah Kate Rogers; son Rob Rogers (Samantha) children Madison and Morgan Rogers; stepchildren Todd Bennett (Sharon) and Macie; Samantha Vandermeade (Trista) and Violet; Gabrielle Pope (Tyler); Michael Vandermeade; and a sister Mary Ann Singleton (Dean).

 

A celebration of life will be held in October.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family ask contributions to be made to your church or charity of your choice.

 

The care of Mr. Rogers has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
