Flora Jones Wells

Flora Sue Jones Wells, age 88, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at The Oaks at Sweeten Creek.

Flora was part of a big family and was a daughter of Loren Jones, Sr. and Virgie Stamey Jones.  She was also preceded in death by her dear husband of 53 years, Wilburn Benjamin Wells, Sr. who died in 2005; her sons, Allen Wells and Ben Wells, Jr.; two sisters, Tootsie and Meb; and four brothers, Loren, Jr., Booder, Roy, and Tommy Jones.

Flora had a satisfying 30-year career in the Buncombe County Schools as a cook.  She relished her important role in feeding the youth of Enka High School and knowing she was contributing to their educational foundation.  Creating a happy family and memories was of utmost importance to her and she thrived in her roles of loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law.  As a devoted fan of Elvis, her family will always think of her and have a smile on their face when one of The King’s songs comes on the radio.

She is survived by her sons, Scotty Wells (Karina) and Rex Wells (Tracy); sister, Peggy Hensley; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will be having a private graveside service.
