Fain Miller

Bethel Community, Joseph Fain Miller, a loving family man and avid outdoorsman, passed away on August 15, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Madison County on July 12, 1943 to Reverend Joseph Doyle Miller and Jennie Ann Wells Miller.

Fain held a special place in his heart for his family, especially his grandchildren. He cherished the moments he spent with them and often took them hiking out on the Blue Ridge Parkway or on tractor rides using his beloved 1968 Massey Ferguson. Fain also enjoyed fly fishing with his son, brother, and friends. Family gatherings were made even more special by Fain's presence. He was also a devout member of Riverside Baptist Church.

After graduating from Bethel High School in 1963, Fain went on to lead a life rooted in values of hard work and dedication. He had a passion for farming and spent many hours tending to the land. Fain possessed artistic skills as well and found joy in carpentry. His love for music was evident as he often played his favorite tunes to uplift those around him.

Fain will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Carol Ann Pressley Miller; daughter, Leisa Miller Mease (David); sons, Michael Fain Miller (and partner Kenny Ricker) and Christopher Scott Miller (Keri); one brother, James "Jimmy" Doyle Miller (Patsy); three sisters, Carolyn Miller Long (Henry), Mary Miller Setzer (Dennis), and Martha Miller Chambers (Wayne); one stepdaughter, Tammie Lynn Robitshek; four grandchildren, Joseph Aaron Miller, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Miller, Sarah Ann Mease, and Jacob Reed Mease; ten step-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and close friends.

Preceding him in death are Fain's first wife, Sarah Jane Johnson Miller; his son, Tracy Aaron Miller; and three stepchildren, Robert Earl Thomas, Jr., Nancy Kate Rogers, and Devery Shane Thomas; and his brother, Howell G. Miller, who holds a special place in Fain's heart.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Riverside Baptist Church with Reverends Steve Frazier, Greg Cullen, and Rick Mehaffey officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
