Everett Surrett

Waynesville, Everett Dewey Surrett, Sr., age 67, of 109 North Ridge Drive, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at his home. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he lived most of his life in Haywood County. He was the son of the late Frank and Zenia McIntyre Surrett and was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. He was a band saw filer and was of the Baptist faith. Everett enjoyed fishing, gun shows, riding motorcycles, and was a fan of Nascar and the Washington Redskins. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Vera Wilkie Surrett; one daughter he never met, DeAlva Lynn; five sons, Everett Surrett, Jr., Ralph Lee Surrett, Bobby Shelton and fianc�, Stephanie, David Shelton and fianc� Diane, Lonnie Shelton; one sister, Ruth Meadows; two brothers, Vernon Surrett and Frank Surrett, Jr.; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Green Hill Cemetery with Reverend Richard Clubb officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to services at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Surrett, Roy Surrett, Zachary Surrett, Ralph Surrett, Robert Goss "Little Lee", Cary Moore and Lonnie Shelton.
