Evelyn Hampton

Clyde, Evelyn Inman Hampton, age 70, of Jones Cove Road, died on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Murphy Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late James and Mae Anne Talley Inman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orse Junior Hampton, who died in 1992; one brother, Alfred Hightower, Jr.; and one sister, Marie Stepp. She was a homemaker who enjoyed visiting with family and taking care of her grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Doug Hampton and wife, Debra, of Asheville and Rick Hampton and wife, Donna, of Wytheville, Virginia; three daughters, Hiawatha Fisher of Knoxville, Sharon Shelton and husband, Dewayne, of Clyde, and Kathy Payne and husband, David, of Knoxville; one sister, Mae Mathis, of Sylva; two half sisters, Alice Pressley of Whittier and Addie Reece of Canton; one half brother, Mack Hightower of Canton; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Rocky Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Ned Pressley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
