Evelyn Davis

Morristown, Tennessee, Evelyn Jenkins Davis, age 86, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Avenir Memory Care Assisted Living in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A native of Swain County, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Ernest and Minnie Shuler Jenkins.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Everett “E.B.” Davis, who passed away in 2006; and a son, Evangelist Wally Davis.  Evelyn was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was a gifted cook and was eager to share her recipes every July 4th at their family gathering at Lake Cherokee, in Tennessee, especially her banana pudding.  For many years, Evelyn was a hairdresser, running her business out of her home.  Evelyn’s greatest joy was spending quality time with her family.

Evelyn is survived by her four sons, Rick Allen Davis, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Michael Duane Davis, and his wife, Jean, of Waynesville, Jeffery Dean Davis, and his wife, Sally, of Sandisfield, Massachusetts, and Terry Lynn Davis, of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Geneva Shoaf, of Winston-Salem, brother, Rayford Jenkins, and his wife, Shirley, of Knoxville, Tennessee; niece, Chloe Pence, and her husband, Dick, of Greensboro, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Heather Kissell (Chris), Amie Lara (Dave), and their mother Shirley, Jason Davis (Mari), Jeremy Davis, Jacob Davis, Joshua Davis, Breonna Wangrud (Taylor), and Jared Davis; and 14 beautiful great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held in honor of Evelyn.  Burial will follow at Crawford-Ray Memorial Gardens.

The care of Mrs. Davis has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
