Eula McNeil Hyatt

Waynesville, Eula Dean McNeil Hyatt, age 80, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019 at her residence.

A native of Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late George Franklin McNeil and Nelia Paralee Triplett McNeil.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lee Hyatt who died in 2017; a sister, Shirley Johnson; three brothers, Nike, Ken and Ike McNeil.  Eula retired from Wellco Shoes as an Inspector after 30+ years of service.  Eula was one of 15 children, she enjoyed feeding birds, growing flowers and enjoyed her dogs.

Eula is survived by two daughters, Melissa Hyatt Leabhart, of Waynesville and Freda Wood, of Hudson; three sons, Billy Hyatt and Cindy of Sylva, Brent Hyatt and Heather of Cullowhee and Brad Hyatt and Mechele of Lenoir; six sisters, Rebecca Hamby, Catherine Eller, Judy Church, Stena Payne, Liz Marley and Jeanette Edmiston; four brothers, Andrew, Charlie, Henry and Tom McNeil; grandchildren, Jonathan Leabhart, Jennifer Hyatt, Jamie Hyatt, Nathaniel and Jacob Wood, Samatha LeClair and Hannah Hyatt; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2019 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Lloyd Fish officiating.  Burial will follow at Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
