Gene Webb

Gene Webb, of Bethel, passed away on October 24, 2023, at Carepartners Solace Center in Asheville. He was born on July 14, 1946, in Haywood County. Gene led a fulfilling life and leaves behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and love.

Gene also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. His courageous service demonstrated his unwavering dedication to protecting the values and freedoms we hold dear. During his time in the Military, Gene was awarded several medals, ribbons, and badges. These include the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal - Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation, Rifle - Expert Badge, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Commendation Medal, Civic Action Ribbon, and Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal. 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Martha Frazier Webb, brother Glenn, and his twin sister Sylvia.

Gene is survived by his brother Jerry Webb (Linda), niece Courtney McClure, nephew Mark Webb, great nephews Tyler and Caleb Webb, and great niece Brooklyn McClure. He also leaves behind a special friend Derrick Crawley and his son Junior, whom Gene loved dearly. Gene also leaves behind his dog Little Bit.

Burial Service will be held at Thomas Chapel Cemetery in Bryson City, on November 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m with Reverend Nathan Ashe officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Friends of Haywood County Animal Shelter, PO Box 142, Waynesville NC 28786. 

 

The care of Mr. Webb has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
