Nashville, Tennessee - Ethel Frazier Reeves, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2018.
A native of North Carolina, she was the daughter of Andrew MacDonald Frazier and Jessie Inman Frazier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, James Melvin Reeves. Ethel moved to Nashville in 2013 to be near her family. A deep affection for and connection to her beautiful Smoky Mountains continued for the remainder of her life.
Ethel had a love for music and books. She taught piano and directed the choir at Bethel Methodist Church and inspired in her children and grandchildren a life-long love of music. She worked as a librarian at Bethel Middle and Waynesville Middle Schools. Ethel was a member of Cruso United Methodist Church, a community volunteer, active in civic affairs, member of the Friends of Haywood County Public Library and the Bethel Lions Club, among others.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Steven Reeves (Mary) of Nashville, Tennessee and Robert Louis Reeves (Sandra) of Gainesville, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Linda Fox Reeves; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood County Public Library, 678 South Haywood Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
