Ernest Hendrix

Canton/Statesville – Ernest Eugene Hendrix, 90, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

He was a native and resident of Canton most of his life and was the son of the late Gene and Emma Revis Hendrix.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Whitted Hendrix; one brother, Richard Hendrix; four sisters, Corky Richardson, Sarah Fish, Martha Grooms and Betty Brown.  He was a US Air Force veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.  He was a former manager at Champion Papers and later retired from Vermont American Saw Tool Manufacturing as a manager.  His place of worship was Grace Baptist Church in Statesville.

He was survived by a daughter, Carol Hendrix of Louisville, Kentucky; a son, Doug Hendrix and his wife, Carole, of Statesville; two granddaughters, Mary Whitted Hendrix of Wilmington and Haley Williams and her husband, Worth and their son,  Worth Williams, Jr., all of Farmville; one brother, David Hendrix and his wife, Anita, of Candler; a sister, Becky Floyd and her husband, Fred, of Aiken, South Carolina; and a brother-in-law, Harry Fish of Canton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m, on Monday, January 14, 2019 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Gary West officiating.  Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road in Canton.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
